Vibrations Reveal More Than You Think
The structural condition of a mast or other object is not always visible during a static inspection. It is precisely the behavior of a structure under load that can provide valuable information about its technical condition. That is why Normec often uses dynamic 3D measurement to supplement static 3D measurement.
Using this non-destructive measurement method, we analyze an object’s vibration behavior. Based on this analysis, we determine whether the structure is still in good condition or if there are indications of hidden defects.
A precise analysis of vibration behavior
During the measurement, our specialists apply a pre-calculated lateral force to the object. Once the desired load is reached, it is released all at once. This creates a natural vibration that provides insight into the condition of the structure.
An advanced 3D camera records the entire vibration pattern with an accuracy of 1/1000 of a millimeter. Based on this data, we analyze the vibration damping and assess the technical condition of the structure.
When a structure is in good condition, the vibration subsides quickly. If the structure continues to resonate for a longer period, this may indicate a structural defect.
Suitable for a wide range of mast structures
The dynamic 3D measurement is applied to various types of poles and structures, including:
- Streetlight poles (OVL)
- Lighting poles at sports fields
- Floodlight poles
- Traffic control systems (TCS)
- Tram poles
- Truss masts
- Lighting pole advertising
- Balusters
Depending on the situation, we combine dynamic measurements with static 3D measurements to obtain a comprehensive picture of structural safety.
Clear results for well-informed decisions
Afterward, our specialists analyze the measurement data and compile it into a clear and concise report. Within two weeks, you’ll have access to all results via our online application.
The findings will help you with, among other things:
- Assessing the structural condition
- Planning maintenance
- Justifying replacement
- Mitigating safety risks
- Extending the service life of structures
For approved structures, you will receive a safety certificate valid for up to six years.
Why Choose Normec?
Normec combines years of practical experience with innovative, patented 3D measurement techniques. Thanks to our non-destructive approach, you’ll gain reliable insights into the technical condition of your structures without damaging them.

Frequently asked questions about dynamic 3D measurement
-
A dynamic 3D measurement is a non-destructive testing method in which the vibration behavior of an object is analyzed to assess its structural condition.
-
In a static measurement, displacement under load is measured. In a dynamic measurement, on the other hand, the focus is on how an object reacts after the load is suddenly removed.
-
The method is suitable for, among other things, streetlight poles, lighting poles, floodlight poles, traffic control systems, tram poles, lattice poles, balusters, and light pole advertisements.
-
No. The dynamic 3D measurement is completely non-destructive and causes no damage to the structure.
-
You will receive a report containing the test results and analyses. For approved properties, a compliance certificate may also be issued.
