Reliable insight into the stability of masts

The structural condition of a mast cannot always be assessed with the naked eye. Wear, aging, or damage below ground level can affect stability without being immediately visible. A timely assessment helps mitigate risks and make informed maintenance or replacement decisions.

Using a static 3D measurement, Normec determines the stability of various types of masts. This non-destructive measurement method provides insight into the condition of the mast and its foundation without causing damage to the structure.

Accurate measurements without damage

During the measurement, our specialists apply a pre-calculated lateral force to the mast. The load is then gradually reduced, allowing the mast to return to its original position.

An advanced 3D camera records this movement with an accuracy of up to 1/1000 of a millimeter. Based on the measured displacement, we assess whether the mast is behaving as expected. If deviations are detected, we identify the possible cause and the severity of the defect.

The measurement focuses on:

  • The stability of the mast
  • The condition of the section below ground level
  • The mast section up to approximately 1.20 meters above ground level
  • The foundation of the structure

Suitable for a wide range of mast structures

The static 3D measurement can be applied to various types of poles and structures, including:

  • Streetlight poles
  • Lighting poles at sports fields
  • Floodlight poles
  • Traffic control systems (TCS)
  • Tram poles
  • Truss poles
  • Lighting pole advertising
  • Balusters

As a result, this method is widely applicable for managers of public spaces, infrastructure, and sports facilities.

From measurement to clear insight

After the inspection, you’ll receive a summary of the measurement results. A digital map lets you immediately see the status of the inspected objects, making it easy to prioritize maintenance or replacement.

For approved objects, a safety certificate can also be issued. This provides you with verifiable proof of the technical condition of your masts.

Why choose Normec?

Normec has years of experience in assessing mast structures and uses patented measurement methods. Thanks to our non-destructive approach, structures remain intact, while you have access to reliable measurement data on which to base your maintenance policy.

Frequently asked questions about static 3D measurement

A static 3D measurement is a non-destructive testing method used to assess the stability of masts and the condition of the foundation.

The method is suitable for, among other things, streetlight poles, lighting poles, floodlight poles, tram poles, traffic control systems, lattice poles, balusters, and light pole advertisements.

No. The measurement is completely non-destructive and causes no damage to the object.

The mast’s displacement is recorded with an accuracy of 1/1000 of a millimeter, allowing even very small deviations to be detected.

You will receive a summary of the results, an overview of the status of the measured structures, and—if applicable—a safety certificate for approved towers.
