Safe Swimming Waters and the New Environment Act

With the implementation of the new Environment Act, pool owners will face changes and new rules in swimming water regulations. Many detailed regulations are being phased out. As a result, you, as a pool owner, will have more room for ideas and innovations, as well as greater freedom of choice in your approach.

At the same time, a number of new parameters will be introduced to determine the hygiene and safety of swimming water. Under the new law, for example, attention will be paid to more and different microorganisms, a number of disinfection byproducts, and a number of waste products resulting from the breakdown of swimmers’ waste. In addition, parameters for indoor air quality in swimming pools will be introduced for the first time.

When will the new Swimming Pool Act take effect?

The original implementation date of January 1, 2021, will not be met. This is a result of the current situation surrounding the coronavirus. The exact duration of this delay is not yet known. Nevertheless, we advise swimming pool owners to start preparing now for the changes in swimming water legislation.
