My hoist was rejected (C decision). What should I do now?

A device that receives a negative decision (decision C or D) may no longer be used.

A C decision is issued in response to an immediately dangerous situation. The inspector reports such a decision immediately on site to the person in charge who is present.

After repairs, an additional inspection must be conducted. This inspection may sometimes be limited to verifying whether the violation has been corrected (= limited inspection). A report will then be prepared detailing the additional inspection. However, it is also possible that the full inspection will be repeated. The device may only be used again once it has received a positive decision. You must therefore contact our office as soon as possible to request this additional inspection.

A Decision D is issued in response to a less serious violation (Decision B) that has been reported repeatedly (third recurrence). The device may only be used again once the violation has been rectified. An additional inspection is not required in this case.

Emergency Lighting Inspection: When Is It Required in Belgium?

When a building is suddenly plunged into darkness—due to a fire, power outage, or other malfunction—emergency lighting is often the only system left to provide guidance. Yet in practice, we find that organizations in Belgium often overlook the inspection of emergency lighting. Implementation is particularly behind schedule in Wallonia. Yet various regulations explicitly require this inspection, such as the Walloon Tourism Handbook. This creates a risk for many organizations.
